If CD Projekt Red weren’t so safe, they would’ve made something like this the box art for Cyberpunk 2077 and I would’ve loved it. You thought dubstep was a dormant genre? Well, guess what? I’m here to bring it back into the spotlight. Or streetlight, my audience isn’t THAT big yet. Either way, I actually had this recommended to me by a friend of mine who’s really in the EDM/dubstep scene. After doing some research, MUST DIE! has actually been a pretty big force in the late stages of dubstep as a genre, working with the likes of Flux Pavilion, Zomboy, and even Skrillex. He’s been cementing himself as a pretty big figure not only in dubstep but in electronic music as a whole. His second studio album, CRISIS VISION , would’ve usually left no impression as I went onto the next project, but there was something about this that I just had to speak about. Thank 100 gecs for introducing me to Dorian Electra. For those that don’t know, Dorian Electra is, to me, one of the innovators of the relatively new genre of hyperpop. It’s one of the more zany types of music, but there’s also a deep amount of creativity that I’ve been appreciating a lot more. 100 gecs introduced me to this sound, and artists like Charli XCX and Kero Kero Bonito have also taken their careers into this direction. I’d also like to mention that Dorian Electra is one of the first artists that have taken this sound into the stratosphere. They aren’t worried to get weird and experimental in an already weird and experimental genre. Their debut album Flamboyant is pretty great, while I haven’t covered it here just yet. This is their second album, My Agenda . The biggest features here are pretty eclectic as well.
